Garden of Light Tours

One thing we love to do here at Tweed Coast Scoop is let you know when there is something really amazing happening. Whether it’s something new, or not well known, we love to shine a spotlight on things we think you’ll want to know about. The Garden of Light tour is one of them!

In Tyalgum there is the most amazing private property that opens to the public twice a year in Autumn and Spring. The private tours start at nearby Flutterbies Cottage Cafe (another place we LOVE) with either Devonshire tea or coffee in their exquisite tea room. From there a bus drives you a short distance to the gardens.

The tour lasts about 90 minutes and you are guided through a range of different gardens including the Cottage Garden, Tuscan Garden, Wisteria Arbors, the Lily shrouded pond, Hillside Woodlands of the Butchart, Monet inspired gardens, a Secret Garden, an Angel Walk, along with vegetable, fruit and herb gardens and a magnificent tree house beside the creek.

The Garden of Light is also home to about 100 rescued farm animals including goats, ducks, chickens, alpacas, horses, dogs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs and dove! The tours started as a way to raise funds to feed and care for the animals all year round.

We recently went with our children and they had the time of their life! It’s a magical place that sparks wonder, imaginative play, a connection with nature, and the chance to get close to the animals.

The highlights for us were the amazing tree house built in the most magnificent tree, that over looks a creek, that is home to a platypus.

The giant tree swing was a big hit as well.

The children were captivated with all the animals, the beautiful surroundings, and the stories we heard along the way. Garden of Light was an absolute delight for all ages. Bring your camera because every where you turn there’s an amazing photo opportunity. We can’t wait to go back!
